Project

Spinal cord injury is a catastrophic complication that is commonly caused by trauma, cancer and degradation, with a permanent loss of sensory and motor function below the injury site. The annual incident of this disorder is 250,000 to 500,000 worldwide, and most patients are affected at an age with prime earning potentials. Recent discoveries have revealed promising drug candidates for effective treatment; however, they suffer from long delay in absorption and frequent invasive administration. My project aims to develop a delivery system taking advantage of both colloid and hydrogel platforms to achieve high local drug concentration for optimal therapeutic effect.
