Project
Brain ischemia induces a complex cascade of events resulting in inflammation and neuronal cell death. Consequently, stroke survivors experience neurological and motor dysfunctions that decrease their quality of life. Increasing cell survival and returning the brain to a state of plasticity allows the cellular tissue to repair and regenerate. I am engineering a co-delivery system of a plasticity-enhancing enzyme and a trophic factor, and investigating how they can synchronously influence stroke recovery.
