Stroke is a serious medical event where blood flow to the brain is interrupted, resulting in widespread tissue death and loss of brain function. There is an extremely short window after stroke where, if blood flow is not restored, patients are faced with limited treatment options. One strategy to promote repair is to transform the stroke microenvironment to a regeneration permissive state to strengthen endogenous repair processes. My research explores a biocompatible, biodegradable delivery vehicle to achieve sustained, local protein release to the stroke injured brain.
